Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Roadwiser ("we", "us") handles information when you use the Roadwiser mobile app and this website. We built Roadwiser to work offline and to collect as little about you as possible. Signing in is optional, and most of the app never needs an account.

Information we handle

On-device data. Your study progress, XP, level, achievements, hearts, chosen country and settings are stored locally on your device. This stays on your phone and is not sent to us unless you sign in.

Optional account. If you choose to sign in for the leaderboard (with your email or with Google), we store your email address, a display name or username, and your progress figures (such as XP and level) on our servers so we can show your ranking. If you never sign in, we hold none of this.

Advertising. Roadwiser shows ads through Google AdMob. To do this, Google may process your device advertising identifier and related data as described in Google's policies. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, we ask for your consent through Google's certified consent tool before showing personalised ads, and you can change your choice at any time.

Analytics. We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used so we can improve it. This data is not used to identify you personally.

Notifications. If you keep the daily reminder switched on, it is scheduled locally on your device. We do not send push messages from a server and collect no data through it.

How we use information

• To run core features such as tests, road signs and situations (on-device).
• To show your position on the leaderboard, if you sign in.
• To display ads that keep the app free.
• To measure and improve the app in aggregate.

Legal basis and consent

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on your consent for personalised advertising (collected through Google's consent tool) and on our legitimate interest in providing and improving the app for the rest. You can withdraw consent for personalised ads at any time from within the app.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers that make the app work: Google (AdMob, Firebase and Google Sign-In). Each processes data under its own privacy policy.

Data retention and deletion

On-device data is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall it. If you created an account and want it and its leaderboard data deleted, email us at [email protected] and we will remove it.

Children

Roadwiser is intended for people learning to drive and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under the age required by local law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top when we do, and significant changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
